Tree Service in Sumrall, MS
Northwest of Hattiesburg in Lamar County, Sumrall grew up on pine timber — and its mature stands now tower over homes, barns, and driveways along Highway 589. We bring the same crew and the same written pricing.
Tree Work in Mississippi's Old Timber Country
Sumrall was a lumber boomtown — in the early 1900s the sawmills here shipped longleaf pine out by rail, and timber has shaped the land ever since. The rails became the Longleaf Trace, the rail trail that runs through town on its way from Hattiesburg to Prentiss, and the woods became home sites: family land, wooded acre-plus lots, and second-growth loblolly stands that were planted as timber and left standing long past their prime.
That history writes our Sumrall call list. Planted pines planted close together grow tall and skinny, and at 30 or 40 years old they're at the age where beetles, lightning strikes, and windthrow start taking them — often in rows, and often right along the driveway or over the shop they were never supposed to shade. In the low spots, water oaks fill in fast and hollow out young, same as everywhere in the Pine Belt.
Sumrall properties usually give a crew room to work, and open drops mean faster, cheaper removals than a fenced in-town yard. When several planted pines need to come down together, one trip handles the row. We're under half an hour away up Highway 589, Sumrall is part of our regular service area, and there's no trip charge for the drive.
Timber-Stand Pines
Aging planted loblollies taken down in rows or one at a time — before beetles or a lean turns a row into a domino problem.
Rural Lots & Family Land
Dead and storm-damaged trees along driveways, fence lines, and the Trace-side properties — cleared, hauled, or stacked as firewood.
Stumps & Homesite Clearing
Stumps ground across acreage, and selective clearing when you're putting a house, shop, or pasture where the pines are.
Sumrall Tree Service FAQs
Is there a trip charge to come out to Sumrall?
No. Sumrall is part of our regular service area, under half an hour northwest of Hattiesburg on Highway 589. Estimates are free here, and job pricing is the same written pricing we use in Hattiesburg.
A whole row of planted pines needs to come down. Is that priced per tree?
The estimate prices the job as one job. One trip, one setup, and open-country felling where the lot allows it all bring the per-tree cost down compared to single-tree visits — the written estimate shows the whole list priced together.
Can you clear part of a lot for a house or shop and keep the good trees?
Yes — selective clearing is common around Sumrall. We'll walk the lot with you, mark keep and remove together, and flag which "keeper" trees are actually likely to survive construction. Root damage from grading kills more saved trees than saws do, and we'd rather tell you that before the slab is poured.
